Marco Tortoriello
I am a Professor of Strategy and Organizations and I was Associate Professor of Strategic Management at IESE Business School and Assistant Professor of Strategy and Business Policy at HEC Paris.
I am the Head of the Department of Management & Technology of Bocconi University.
I hold a PhD in Industrial Administration Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh (PA) and a MS in Industrial Administration Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh (PA).
I teach modules business strategy, strategy execution, social networks, and organizational change, in several degree granting program (undergrads, MBA, Executive MBA) as well as in-company executive education programs. Between 2017 and 2020 I have served as the Associate Dean for the Masters Division at the SDA Bocconi School of Management. Between 2019 and 2022 I have been an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal.
My research focuses on understanding mechanisms and returns to informal network relationships defined within and across organizations. In particular, I study the social context of intra- and inter-organizational ties focusing on social networks, knowledge management, innovativeness, and performance.
Since 2019 I am an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal.
I have taught core Competitive Strategy courses at the Undegraduate, Master, MBA, Executive MBA, and Global Executive MBA level. In addition to that, I routinely teach modules on social networks, organizational change, and strategy execution in several in-company executive education programs.
Between 2017 and 2020 I have served as the Associate Dean for the Masters Division at the SDA Bocconi School of Management.
