Strategic decision making under uncertainty

Conferences - Workshop
14:00 - 17:30
Auditorium Ferrero ' SDA Bocconi ' Via Sarfatti 1
Bach

This workshop discusses a conceptual framework and a potential research program geared towards analyzing the impact of digitalization on firms. Algorithms release cognitive resources of decision-makers who can focus on low-frequency/high-impact strategic decisions, such as innovation decisions, M&A, capital structure, hiring of talented employees. In a digital world different ability to frame firm strategies is a key source of competitive advantage: by adopting a scientific approach to decision-making firms can embrace rather than escape uncertainty and can rely on owners as strategists. The growth of knowledge becomes the ultimate purpose of the firm, from which other purposes descend. The workshop discusses some applications of the framework and a potential research agenda.
